Health, Security/Safety, and Dress Guidelines for Patrons
By following these simple guidelines, our patrons can assist us in providing a safe, healthy, and secure environment:
Health
- Newspapers or other paper objects are not permitted in the sauna or whirlpools.
- Shaving is not permitted in the showers, sauna or in the whirlpools.
- Sauna users are required to sit on a towel, and not on the bare bench.
- Flip-flops (a pair intended solely for inside use) are recommended in the locker rooms, showers and poolside area.
- Food is not to be left in lockers.
- Spitting on the ground, floor or pool deck is prohibited.
- Exercise benches are to be sprayed and wiped down before and after each use.
- Bare feet, flip flops, and sandals are prohibited in the sports facilities/weight room.
- Due to possible allergic reactions, we discourage the use of strong perfumes or colognes. Please follow the “No Scents is Good Sense” theory.
- Peanuts and products containing nuts are prohibited in all youth programs.
Security/Safety
- The Ray Friel Recreation Complex is not responsible for items of personal property lost accidentally or through the actions of theft or negligence.
- If it is not possible to leave valuables at home, secure them in a locker with a sturdy lock or lock them in your car.
- Avoid leaving personal belongings unsupervised.
- Report any suspicious persons or activities to the reception desk or any RFRC staff member.
- Never leave a credit card, passport, or health card as proof of identification.
- Ensure you know the location of the closest emergency exit to your area of activity. Leave the building immediately upon hearing an alarm.
Remember: the closest emergency exit is probably not the main entrance!
- All electronic equipment with photographic capabilities (including cellular telephones) is prohibited in the change rooms, washrooms, exercise rooms, and swimming pool areas. Reception desk staff cannot assume responsibility for such equipment left in the reception area.
- Rollerblades or roller-equipped shoes are prohibited within the facility.
Dress
- Patrons are required to wear a t-shirt, sweatshirt, or other appropriate sportswear, as well as sports shoes with non-marking soles.
- Street/regular shorts, clothing and shoes are not allowed in the pool or in the pool area.
- Bathing suits are mandatory in the pool area. Revealing or "see-through" bathing suits are strongly discouraged, and patrons wearing such attire will be asked to either change or leave the facility.
